State Agency to Look into Aramark’s Prison Food Service Contract in Michigan

LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The state Office of the Auditor General said that it plans to conduct a preliminary survey of Michigan’s prisoner food services. Spokeswoman Kelly Miller told MIRS News that it would include the time period that troubled private provider Aramark began its contract with the state in December 2013, but she didn’t indicate just how far back the review would cover. Auditors will gather information over the next four to six weeks before deciding whether to undertake a full-scale audit or not.
