PORT HURON, MI (WHTC) – State Representative Brandon Dillon will be taking over as the chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party. Dillon succeeds Lon Johnson who resigned the post to run as a candidate in Michigan’s 1st Congressional District.
Dillon will partner with Lavora Barnes who will serve as Chief Operating Officer for the Party. The two campaigned together ahead of the Chair election emphasizing their complimentary skills.
Barnes is a former state director for Obama for America, served as a director in the White House Office of Media Affairs and a press secretray for Clinton-Gore Campaign, and is former communications director for the Michigan House Democrats. Current chairman lon Johnson is running for Congress, challenging incumbent Republican Congressman Dan Benishek in the the northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula.
