Prop 1 Foe Seeking Congressional Seat – Again

DRYDEN TWP., MI (WHTC) – Congressional hopefuls are already positioning themselves now for spots on the November 8, 2016 ballot. Paul Mitchell, who helped spearhead a successful campaign to defeat the statewide Proposal 1 in May, will seek the GOP nomination to replace retiring Republican Candice Miller in representing Port Huron and most of Michigan’s Thumb area. Mitchell has moved from Saginaw County to Lapeer County; he lost in the 2014 GOP primary in an effort to succeed Midland’s Dave Camp in the US House. Last month, Lon Johnson stepped down as state Democratic Party chairman to make a run for Dan Benishek’s Upper Peninsula berth in the US House.
