LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A $1.2 billion road funding plan has been unveiled by minority Democrats in the state House. The package doesn’t include a gas tax increase, but it keep the Earned Income Tax Credit, has existing state Economic Growth Authority credit deals renegotiated, and flips the current formula to give MDOT more road dollars than local municipalities.
Minority Leader Tim Greimel of Auburn Hills says that the plan reinforces the Democratic Party’s mandate to have businesses pay their fair share. Capitol observers say that the minority proposal may not get much traction in this Republican-controlled Legislature.
