LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A statewide study by Wayne State University’s Transportation Research Group says that Michigan’s seat belt use rate has remained steady at 93 percent. The state Office of Highway Safety Planning didn’t go into details of the report, but used it to trumpet the success of the Memorial Day “Click it or Ticket” enhanced enforcement campaign that saw only eight traffic-related deaths, down from 20 the year before. A second study in September will determine Michigan’s official 2015 seat belt use rate.
