LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Two Republican state Senators introduced legislation aimed at ending the practice of “sanctuary cities” in Michigan. Police in Ann Arbor and Detroit do not enforce federal immigration laws, but the murder of a woman in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant has led to more calls for ending the practice. Mike Kowall and Jack Brandenburg want to cut off revenue sharing to Ann Arbor and Detroit if they don’t rescind the practice and to prohibit creating more “sanctuary cities” in the future.
