LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The State Court Administrative Office’s 2015 Judicial Resources Recommendations report recommends that nine trial courts across Michigan lose judgeships while three others in the Metro Detroit area gain seats. All other county courts would be unaffected. The recommendations are based on a weighted caseload formula and other factors such as judges’ travel, population trends and prosecutorial practices. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Rick Jones (R-Grand Ledge) said on Friday that he will introduce legislation to codify these recommendations.
