LANSING, MI (WTVB) – There’s still no deal to fix Michigan’s roads., and it looks like lawmakers will head to break without getting a deal done that would fix the state’s crumbling roads. Earlier this month, the state Senate passed a bill that would increase the gas tax by 15 cents, increase diesel taxes and cut $700 million from the budget, however the proposal has failed to gain support in the state House.
In May, a proposal calling for an increase in the sales tax to fund road repairs was crushed by voters. The Michigan House is scheduled to adjourn today until mid-August.
