Two Michigan-Based Congress Members Introduce Anti-Algae Legislation

WASHINGTON (WHTC) – Michigan Congress Members Tim Walberg (R-Tipton) and Candice Miller (R-Harrison Twp.) have formally introduced the Great Lakes Assurance Program Verification Act in the US House. It encourages states throughout the region to develop voluntary agricultural assurance programs for promoting conservation and minimizing agricultural pollution risks. The legislation stems from toxic algae bloom issues that developed in Lake Erie last year, and is based on the state’s successful Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program.
