LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Add another five years to Michigan’s New Jobs Training Program. Legislation sponsored by northwest Lower Peninsula Republican state Senator Darwin Booher was signed into law by Governor Snyder that establishes a new sunset date of the end of 2023. The program, which began five years ago, allows community colleges to partner with local employers for establishing and funding job training initiatives. The new law also clarifies the definition of the state’s minimum wage among program participants in light of recent increases in overall minimum wage standards.
