LANSING, MI (WHTC) – According to MIRS News, 19 state House Republicans aren’t supporting a 1.4 billion-dollar annual road-funding package sent from the Senate, effectively blocking passage of the legislation. The biggest stumbling block is a phased-in, 15-cent gas tax increase through the end of next year. The House had passed a 1.1 billion-dollar proposal last month, parts of which were included in the Senate plan. The Lower Chamber is off until mid-August, while the Upper Chamber will take up other matters until the House votes on its proposal.
