SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Local author Michael McCarthy, who wrote about the 1915 sinking of the steamship Eastland in the Chicago River that claimed more lives than the Titanic three years earlier, will talk about his findings in a lecture at South Haven’s Listiak Auditorium. He will be signing copies of “Ashes Under Water: The SS Eastland and the Shipwreck that Shook America” prior to the 7 PM presentation. Admission is 10 dollars for this fundraiser by the Michigan Maritime Museum.
