LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has opened up the bidding process for replacing more than 10-year-old election equipment used in all of the state’s 48 hundred voting precincts. Vendors who offer upgraded systems that use a paper ballot have until early September to submit proposals to her office. Johnson said that more and more breakdowns have been reported, mostly due to age. Some counties could get new equipment by next August; a complete full rollout is slated by 2018.
