HOLLAND (WHTC) – A 4-year-old Holland boy is lucky to be alive after being pulled from Hawthorn Pond, just off Adams Street and I-196, in Holland Township. The little boy was pulled from the pond about 5:30 Sunday afternoon. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Matt Wildfong says the boy, whose name has not been released, was with several other people when he apparently wandered away. Wildfong says as the boy’s guardian was looking for him, a passerby found the boy in the pond and pulled him out. The boy was initially not breathing and his face was turning blue. However, he was revived through CPR and started breathing on his own. By the time first responders showed up, he was sitting up. The boy was taken to Holland Hospital for observation.
