GRAND LEDGE, MI (WHTC) – State Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Rick Jones told MIRS News that he’s working on wording and seeking cosponsors before introducing a bill that would recraft Michigan’s Sex Offender Registration Act. A federal District Court ruling struck down several provisions of the 21-year-old law, including keeping registered offenders at least a thousand feet away from schools. The Grand Ledge Republican wants to craft a bill that can withstand court scrutiny while still protecting children.
