LANSING, MI (WTVB) – It appears there is a good old fashion sex scandal in Michigan brewing under the Capitol Dome. Other representatives thought it was strange when Tea Party freshmen Todd Courser of Lapeer and Cindy Gamrat of Allegan combined their offices and office staff. “The Detroit News” is reporting that they have been having an extra-marital affair. In fact the paper has audio recordings taped by a former staffer of a scheme concocted by Courser to try to cover up the affair. Staff who objected to what was going on were given large raises right before they resigned.
Both Gamrat and Courser are married with children, he has four and she has three. The two often cite their Christian faith as what guides them legislatively and have clashed with Republican leaders in their eight months in office. The affair may be one thing, but it’s the cover-up and the involvement of staff that could get them in real trouble if true.
