LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Two Civil War era-style Parrott cannons have been installed on the state Capitol lawn and will be fired during renactment ceremonies tomorrow commemorating the 150th anniversary of the end of the War Between the States. State senators Mike Kowall and Steve Bieda led a two-year, privately-funded campaign that raised 47 thousand dollars to replace the original cannons from a Michigan-based battery during the Civil War that were taken down and probably melted as scrap during World War II.
