LANSING, MI (WHTC) – While Governor Snyder is in China this week, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley met with the “quadrant” of state legislative leaders behind closed doors on road funding reform. He, along with Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekof, Minority Leader Jim Ananich, House Speaker Kevin Cotter and House Minority Leader Tim Greimel discussed the current impasse.
Calley told reporters that the administration’s aim of protecting state finances while improving roads hasn’t changed, but all involved believed that the meeting was productive, and another session next week when Governor Snyder returns is expected.
The Senate is already back at the Capitol for the fall, while the House returns from its final two-week-long summer break after Labor day.
