KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man from Van Buren County died in a construction area crash over the weekend, according to a report from MLive Monday.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Raymond Peters from Lawton. Around 3:30 p.m., police say he was driving eastbound on I-94 near Portage Street, when he collided with a barrier.
The crash caused the vehicle to roll over, according to police. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead on Sunday.
A passenger was traveling with Peters, and that person is still hospitalized at this time.
No other information was made available.
The project in question is being done to expand I-94 from four to six lanes from Lovers Lane to Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo.
The project began with bridge demolition activities late last month.
