GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A recount will be requested following razor-thin election results to a local school bond proposal in Tuesday’s election. Voters in the Galesburg-Augusta School District voted down a $15 million dollar school improvement bond by only two votes, with 803 in favor and 805 opposed.
The district can’t take action until the results are certified, which is expected to happen Thursday. But Superintendent Wendy Maynard-Somers, who says the funding is desperately needed, has already been in contact with the Kalamazoo County Clerk and the District Attorney to ask for a recount.
If the results stand, Somers says the school district will start working on its next moves. It may be another all-encompassing bond proposal in the next election or they might break it down into smaller projects one at a time.
funny the school super that makes really good money is calling for a recount . the citizens of galesburg are over taxed already , maybe she would take a pay cut
