KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County is on pace to meet the new vaccination levels for easing COVID-19 restrictions in Michigan. In fact, it has already cleared the first benchmark.
Kalamazoo County Administrator Tracee Moored announced that 55% of the County’s residents have received their first shot.
“Kalamazoo County is already in the top five in the state as far as vaccination. So we are well within the model of what the state is looking for.”
55% was the level set by Whitmer to end the mandate for employees to work at home if possible. Unfortunately for Kalamazoo…the rest of the state will have to catch up before that restriction, and the others will actually be lifted.
Offering incentives is one strategy being used by local, state, and national officials to encourage people to get their shots.
