BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police detectives say they have a person of interest in the weekend shooting death of a Battle Creek man.
Detective Sgt. Joel Case told the Battle Creek Enquirer that they are hoping to speak to that person soon, but have not released their name due to the nature of their investigation.
62-year-old Daniel Murray was found dead Saturday at his home on Broad St. with four apparent gunshot wounds. His body was found after family members had called police to do a welfare check, as they had not heard from Murray since April 26.
Battle Creek police had a crime lab at the house Saturday and Sunday morning. Detectives say a motive for the killing remains unknown but that the killer “is believed to be someone that Murray knew.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Battle Creek Police at 269-781-0911 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
