BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A preliminary hearing in a Calhoun County courtroom was postponed Monday for a man charged with tampering with evidence in a Battle Creek murder.
28-year-old Julice Haggerty of Battle Creek is one of two people charged in connection with the disappearance and presumed murder of 27-year-old Amber Griffin. Detective Sgt. Joel Case told the Battle Creek Enquirer that Haggerty is alleged to have destroyed evidence last year and then lied to officers about it.
Griffin has been missing since June of 2020 and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Derek Horton is charged with her murder and is awaiting trial.
Haggerty was scheduled to appear before a judge, but before the hearing could begin, a prosecuting attorney told the judge that several reports had not yet been forwarded to Haggerty’s attorney, causing the postponement. A new date was not immediately set.
