LANSING, MI — All state-owned facilities will be powered by 100-percent renewable energy by 2025. Governor Whitmer says the state is working with DTE Energy, Consumers Energy, and the Lansing Board of Water and Light to make it happen.
The Lansing Board of Water & Light has the ability to convert any of its customers to 100% renewable energy and as a part of its Green Wise Program, according to the utility company. The cost is about a 10% premium.
Whitmer said the state is aiming to be 100% carbon neutral by 2050.
