NEW YORK, NY (WTVB) – Major League Baseball has delayed the opening of the 2020 regular season once again after the CDC recommended canceling gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks due to the coronavirus.
Opening Day was originally scheduled for March 26, but last week the league had postponed the start of the season for two weeks. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said they are not going to announce an alternate Opening Day right now as the league waits to see how things develop.
Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander is on the mend after right groin surgery. GM James Click says the 37-year-old had the procedure yesterday and will be sidelined for about six weeks.
