LANDOVER, MD (WTVB) – The Washington Redskins are considering changing their nickname because of a letter from stadium sponsor FedEx. The Washington Post reports the delivery company threatened to have its name removed from FedEx Field if the NFL franchise didn’t make the move.
The company said the name is offensive to Native Americans and against its company’s values. It wrote if the name isn’t changed they would have all signage at the stadium removed following the 2020 season. The team said it is undergoing a thorough review of the nickname.
