PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage police detectives say more search efforts will be conducted for a man from Gobles, who’s been missing for nearly three years and was last seen with a Portage man accused in a separate double murder case.
Wednesday, helicopters were used in an area of West Centre Ave. and Oakland Dr., the area where Bonifacio Pena was last seen with Nicholas Johnson in May of 2018. Johnson is accused of killing his parents, Gary and Laura Johnson, in February.
Portage Public Safety Director Nicholas Armold told WOOD-TV that the location has been searched before and that the effort was not the result of any new leads. Police say the discovery of the bodies of Johnson’s parents renewed efforts to solve the missing person case.
