BATON ROUGE, LA (WTVB) – LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has been named the AP college football player of the year after receiving 51 of 54 first-place votes.
Burrow, who led unbeaten LSU to the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, finished ahead of Ohio State defensive end Chase Young and Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields.
Burrow is also the favorite for the Heisman Trophy, with Young, Fields, and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts the other finalists.
