KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Long before a college football team runs their first play, the competition begins between Coaches to recruit the most talented youngsters out of high schools and community colleges.
WMU Head Coach Tim Lester had to scramble last year after he got a late start with the defection of PJ Fleck to the Golden Gophers.
This year he has done Fleck one better with the highest rated recruiting class in Conference History.
One player earned 4 stars in and 17 earned three stars by organizations that rank high school players.
Lester credited the academic opportunities, the coaches, the other players, the facilities and the Kalamazoo Community for helping draw the players to Western.
