PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage Department of Public Safety is reporting that two subjects were injured in a crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon on US-131.
Just after 1:30 p.m., officers and fire units were dispatched to southbound US-131, just north of 1-94, for a rollover traffic crash.
Upon arrival, personnel located a gold Honda passenger car in the center median that had rolled over.
Independent witnesses at the scene indicated the Honda was involved in some sort of road rage incident with a black pickup truck.
The pickup fled the scene, exiting US-131 onto I-94.
The Honda operator, a 24-year old female Kalamazoo resident, sustained serious injuries. Aid was rendered by Portage firefighters and she was transported by Pride Care Ambulance to Bronson Hospital.
The Honda operator’s 6-year old child was also in the vehicle. The child was properly restrained and appeared to only suffer very minor injuries.
The child was transported to the hospital for evaluation and precaution.
Traffic on SB US-131 was restricted while officers investigated the crash. The incident remains under investigation by Portage officers.
Anyone with information, especially relating to the owner/operator of the black pickup truck, is asked to call the Portage Department of Public Safety at 269-329-4567 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
