KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department is reporting that 97,273 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Kalamazoo County residents.
To date, 29.1% of residents in the county over the age of 16 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recently made several announcements expanding eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Adults over the age of fifty became eligible for the vaccine as of March 8. Beginning Monday, March 22, individuals over the age of 16 with disabilities or medical conditions will be eligible.
All Michiganders age 16 and up will be eligible to receive a vaccination beginning April 5.
Despite this expanded eligibility, vaccination efforts in Kalamazoo County will continue to prioritize residents based on highest risk, including older adults, those with underlying medical conditions, and frontline workers. As vaccine prioritization guidance evolves and more Michiganders become eligible, the scheduling process and strategy is subject to change.

All eligible residents are also encouraged to explore vaccination through other vaccine providers in the area, including Meijer Pharmacy and Rite Aid Pharmacies.
