ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A local animal shelter is looking for homes for their animals during upcoming month-long renovations to the facility.
The Allegan County Animal Shelter is seeking applications for those interested in providing foster homes for 40 animals currently lodged in their care, including 18 dogs and 20 to 25 cats. While work is underway from January 17th to February 17th, all animals will have to be removed from the building.
New work done on the Allegan city facility includes the installation of a new sink in the surgical area, a renovated HVAC system, and new flooring.
During construction work, the Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance will still be handling and accepting adoption applications Monday through Saturday, and are also seeking applications for foster homes during the interval period.
Those interested in applying must live within 45 minutes of the shelter and current dogs must be vaccinated for distemper, bordetella, and rabies. The shelter says that all medical care and food for the fostered pets will be provided by the Wishbone alliance.
In a release, Wishbone says that any animals that cannot be fostered will be held at a seperate boarding facility. The group is currently asking for donations to pay for the boarding of several pets during renovations.
