BERRIEN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Berrien County are reporting that a Cracker Barrel was evacuated after a 93-year-old driver crashed his vehicle into the building.
According to the Lincoln Charter Township Police Department, officers responded to the crash on Tuesday, January 14 around 9:45 a.m.
Investigators say that the man was in a parking lot when he backed into another vehicle, then accelerated by mistake after putting the car in drive. His vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into the Cracker Barrel retail area.
Although there were no injuries reported, the driver of the vehicle was transferred to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. The restaurant was subsequently evacuated.
Alcohol was not a factor in this incident, which currently remains under investigation.
