KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has announced that it has begun the hiring process for new Public Safety Officers.
According to the department, all applicants must be Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards certified or certifiable. Applicants currently enrolled in a police academy must be certifiable by May 18th, 2020 to qualify.
For those that will not be MCOLES certified by that deadline, another application process will open in the same month.
Officers that are currently employed with another police agency, or have separated from one on good terms in the last year, are eligible to transfer up to three years of experience for a better position on the wage scale.
KDPS says that the job will have a starting wage of $46,235 with a maximum of $79,694. Benefits of working with KDPS include Medical and Dental insurance, a 25-year pension plan, and more.
The application window is open through January 31st. Applicants can expect a response by May 18th, 2020.
