BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A craft brewer is hoping to open a Southwest Michigan location by summer after recieving a nearly million dollar grant from the state.
New Holland Brewing and developer Battle Dog LLC. were awarded a $968,500 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as part of it’s Community Revitalization Program.
City leaders says that additional funding is the final money needed to complete the $5 million dollar project, which previously received $200,000 from non-profit Battle Creek Unlimited and $265,000 in funding from a Real Estate Connection grant.
The Battle Creek City Planning Commission previously considered the rennovation proposal to include retail and restaurant space in the building by developer Battle Dog LLC on October 10th, 2018.
The company is hoping to begin construction later in January after plans are approved by city leaders. New Holland says their planned downtown Battle Creek location on 64 W. Michigan Avenue could be formally opened as soon as this upcoming summer.
