KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo woman has pleaded guilty to three counts criminal sexual conduct for videotaping offenses made to a 9-year-old girl in 2019.
35-year-old Shannon Renee Moore faces decades in prison after agreeing to a plea deal with Kalamazoo County prosecutors.
Moore has agreed to testify against her former boyfriend, 28-year-old Peter Casey II, who is being charged in a related case. He will go through a separate trial scheduled to begin on March 11th.
Casey is accused of ordering Moore to perform sexual acts on the 9-year-old during March 2019, and send him videos of the action through text and social media apps like Facebook Messenger.
Moore was arrested in May 2019 after the computer crimes unit of Coldwater’s police department responded to a tip of suspicious behavior. Both her and Casey’s phones were seized by officers, which eventually led to his arrest on September 25th.
Michigan State Police detectives reported during a preliminary hearing on November 14th that Casey had in his possession a minimum of nine pornographic videos, some related to the messages exchanged with Moore.
He faces several counts of first and second-degree criminal sexual assault on a person under the age of 13, aggravated sexual abuse on a child, and possession of sexually abusive material involving a child among others.
In addition to testifying, Moore’s plea also guarantees her a minimum sentence of 20 years and maximum of 35 years for the charges levied against her, of which all will be served concurrently.
