BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A 27-year-old man testified in Calhoun County court on Monday, saying he feared for his life just before he was hit by a car driven by a pizza delivery driver in a Springfield. It happened at a mobile home park in February. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports Cohen Kozachik was the only witness at a preliminary examination in the case against 32-year-old Joshua Bennett.
Bennett was delivering pizza when his car struck Kozachik at the Avenue A Mobile Home Park, according to Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies. He said he was outside with some friends when the pizza driver drove through the neighborhood at an estimated speed of 30 miles per hour in a 10 mph zone before he was struck.
He faces charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. The next court date to resume the preliminary examination has not been announced.
