CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a crash involving three vehicles Monday evening sent one driver to a hospital.
Around 6 p.m., police responded to the crash at Redfield St. and Fir Rd. in Milton Township. Shannon Ruth Schalk of Niles was heading West on Redfield St., stopping at the intersection and proceeding to turn South on Fir Rd.
As she was turning, a 16-year-old resident of Niles was heading East on Redfield St. The teenage driver did not stop at the stop sign and crashed into the vehicle turning south.
The impact caused Schalk’s vehicle to spin and hit another vehicle that was heading West on Redfield St.
The driver of that vehicle, Kimberly Joy Evans of Granger, IN, was stopped when her vehicle was struck. Schalk suffered minor injuries from the crash and was transported to St. Joe Regional Medical Center as a result.
The teen driver and his passenger were checked out and cleared on scene while Evans did not sustain any injuries. All occupants were wearing seat belts and airbags for two vehicles were deployed.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
