KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is in custody after a victim was pistol whipped in a home that had 21 firearms inside.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were called to Bronson Hospital on Monday after a report of a subject suffering a gunshot wound to their head. They later learned that the victim was actually pistol whipped at a Kalamazoo area apartment complex while he was attempting to sell stolen firearms.
The driver that dropped the victim off at the hospital left the area. Officers located the vehicle during impound procedures and seized a handgun that had recently been stolen during a home invasion in the 12000 block of M-43 in Barry County.
The Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team then executed a search warrant at a home in the 1900 block of Bryant Street near Fulford Street in the Edison Neighborhood where they located 21 firearms and a large amount of meth.
Michigan State Police from the Wayland Post, who investigated the original home invasion, arrested the 24-year-old Kalamazoo man on Tuesday on charges stemming from that incident.
