KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a 12-year-old girl was found alone inside a home during a drug bust on Kalamazoo’s Northside.
The Southwest Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on Thursday in the 700 block of North Rose Street near West North Street and the Kalamazoo Metro Special Response Team was utilized due to the possibility of weapons inside the home.
There they found the young girl and the Kalamazoo Public Safety K-9 team located money, several ounces of meth, a scale, and drug packaging material inside the residence.
Child Protective Services has been notified and drug charges will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for the adults living at the home once crime lab drug tests are completed.
According to the Southwest Enforcement Team press release, “SWET investigates a wide variety of illegal drug cases but spends much of its time and resources investigating cases of ICE and Heroin/Fentanyl being brought into the country by Mexican cartels.”
