KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — More young people will get the chance to learn about the game of golf after a west michigan organization announced forthcoming expansion plans.
The youth development group First Tee of West Michigan says it is partnering with the Kalamazoo Junior Golf Association and the City of Kalamazoo to expand programs.
First tee’s programs aim to educate and mentor children ages 7 through 17 with the help of golf. The group plans to start offering sessions in the Spring of 2021 at three municipal golf courses. Those included are Red Arrow, Eastern Hills, and Milham Park’s courses in Kalamazoo.
Officials with the Kalamazoo Junior Golf Association hope the partnership broadens opportunities in the game for the more than 400 youth members who participate with them. The association is hoping the increased resources will help boost outreach to under-served communities, and fund chances for youth to get involved with golf.
