BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Calhoun County library is celebrating the success of an online reading platform, which it says has helped readers access more digital books from its location.
The branch previously partnered with the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services, a non-profit which seeks to make online material and educational opportunities accessible to member library patrons in Michigan and Indiana.
One of the programs offered through the collaborative includes a digital checkout service through the firm Rakuten Overdrive. The non-profit has announced that in 2019 library patrons checked-out a record setting 2 million digital books from the platform.
Library officials say that cardholders can create an account and access thousands of e-books and audiobooks from the site.
The Lansing-based Midwest Collaborative was created in 2010 from the merger of seperate organizations in Michigan and Indiana, and now has more than 650 member libraries across the two states.
