KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A water main break on Kalamazoo’s Lorraine Avenue prompted city officials to issue a boil water advisory on Saturday. The affected areas include:
1. Edna Boulevard – From Ohmer Street (western boundary) to Nazareth Road (eastern boundary), north side of street. Does NOT include the southwest corner of Edna Boulevard and Nazareth Road.
2. Mulhearn Avenue – Only 3223 and 3311 Mulhearn Avenue.
3. Nazareth Road (Section 1) – From Francis Avenue (southern boundary) to Borgess Drive (northern boundary), east side of street. Does NOT include the southeast corner of Nazareth Road and Pristine Avenue.
4. Nazareth Road (Section 1) – From Edna Boulevard (southern boundary) to approximately 300 feet north (northern boundary), west side of street.
5. Borgess Drive – Only the southeast corner of Borgess Drive and Nazareth Road.
6. Oak Tree Drive – The only building affected is 3515 Oak Tree Drive.
Officials advise city water customers to use bottled water or to boil their tap water for two minutes before consuming. They expect this advisory to be lifted on Tuesday, February 18.
Separately, city officials have lifted the boil water advisory for the area of Stevens Avenue in the city’s Oakwood Neighborhood. The affected areas included:
1. Stevens Avenue – From Barnard Avenue (western boundary) to Kent Avenue (eastern boundary), both sides of the street.
2. Laird Avenue – From Hazel Avenue (northern boundary) to Edgewood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of the street.
Officials determined that the water in this area is now safe for consumption.
