ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An armed robbery suspect is in jail after they led police on a late night chase across town.
Police were dispatched to a convenience store for a reported robbery shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th. The suspect made off with cash and entered their vehicle attempting to leave, during which officers tried to box them in using police cruisers.
Able to get away, the robber sped off for nearly two miles until they crashed and rolled into a hill. Responding police were able to arrest the suspect who attempted to fight them off.
The Allegan Police Department says that the suspect’s gun and money stolen from the convenience store were found at the scene of the crash.
Police transported the suspect to the hospital to treat injuries sustained in the crash before taking them to jail.
