GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies are investigating an incident where a gun was fired at a park in Galesburg.
It happened just after 5 p.m. Sunday at Galesburg Community Park in the 200 block of East Michigan Avenue, east of Battle Creek Street.
Authorities received a report of a minor with a gun and then later learned that at least one shot had been fired.
When they arrived they located the suspects and seized the handgun. Deputies then learned that a minor brought the handgun to the park and when other minors found out they tried to get it from him which was when the gun was discharged.
It’s still unclear if the shot was accidental or intentional. Nobody was injured during the incident but authorities are still trying to gather more information. It’s unclear if anyone is in custody at this time.
