CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that one driver had to be hospitalized after a vehicle crash on Tuesday.
Police say that the driver, identified as 51-year-old Gregory Heidemann of Williamsville, NY, was traveling south bound on M-62, south of Oil City Rd., when he crossed the center line.
Heidemann continued into the north bound lane, forcing another motorist to move off onto the grass and shoulder to avoid collision in the process.
Heidemann then struck several trees before coming to a stop. He was later extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police say seatbelts were used and the side airbags did deploy. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
