PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man was taken to jail after police found a bag of meth and two handguns in his possession.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded after their narcotics team was tipped off about a suspect carrying methamphetamine in the area.
Detectives located the 21-year-old male near his workplace in Kalamazoo, and followed him until he arrived at a park and ride lot in Paw Paw.
An officer asked him why he was sitting at the location in his car and the man claimed in response that he was homeless and waiting for someone to pick him up.
He was arrested after admitting to police that he was carrying a 9 millimeter hand gun in his waist band. Police arrested the suspect and searched the vehicle, finding a bag of blue meth and another firearm.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the suspect was carrying the weapons without any form of permit.
Authorities transported the man to the Van Buren County Jail where he was lodged. He’s facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of methamphetamine.
