KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo woman has been sentenced on several charges in a child sexual abuse case.
Previously, 35-year-old Shannon Renee Moore had pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal sexual conduct for videotaping offenses made to a 9-year-old girl in 2019.
In a plea deal, Moore has agreed to testify against her former boyfriend, 28-year-old Peter Casey II, who is being charged in a related case. He will go through a separate trial scheduled to begin sometime in May.
Casey is accused of ordering Moore to perform sexual acts on the 9-year-old in March 2019, as well as sending him videos of the act.
Michigan State Police detectives reported during a preliminary hearing on November 14th that Casey had in his possession a minimum of nine pornographic videos, some related to the messages exchanged with Moore.
On Monday, Moore was sentenced in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court by Chief Judge Pro Tem Gary C. Giguere Jr.
As a result, Moore will now serve a minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum of 35 years on the first count. For the other two, she will serve at least 4 years and up to 20 on each. These sentences will be served concurrently. She was also granted 305 days of time served.
Upon release, she will be monitored with an electronic tether.
