KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Local businesses are stepping up to make sure students have the resources they need for online classes.
The electronics recycling division of Schupan & Sons Inc. is donating refurbished laptops that will be handed out to high school seniors in the Kalamazoo Public School district that need a device for online access.
According to the district’s Facebook page, school officials passed out about 300 Chromebooks outside the West Main Professional Development Center on Monday, and more are expected to be given away on Thursday.
However, it was a short notice as Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order was put in place that day.
Details on the laptop distribution event are expected to be posted on KPS’ Facebook page and automated phone calls will be sent out to eligible senior students.
