SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — In order to help struggling nonprofit organizations during the COVID-19 spread, The Greater South Haven Area Community Foundation (SHCF) has announced a new relief fund.
The South Haven Emergency Response Fund is meant to assist area nonprofits. The organization is also collaborating with the Southwest Michigan Cares Fund to bring further relief to surrounding counties.
“Our fellow 501c3’s are struggling and like our businesses in town are faced with laying off their help, many of whom are part time and even volunteers,” officials said in a Facebook post. We also recognize that many of these same 501c3’s count on each and every one of us for their support, both financial as well as time and talents.”
To begin with, the organization has already pledged $25,000 for the cause. Donations can be made online or mailed to P.O. Box 507 South Haven, MI 49090. Officials add that donors should note SHEmergencyResponse Fund when making a contribution.
“Please remember our charities which are also our community’s treasures,” officials added. “Many of them have had fundraisers requiring attendance, which is no longer possible. Where you can support them, we know they will appreciate it.”
